When Dennis Kipkoech first joined us, he preferred to stay in the background.
He rarely spoke, avoided being seen, and quietly kept to himself. If there was a group activity, Dennis would often stand back and watch. You could easily miss him.
Today, Dennis is one of the strongest pillars of our U13 football team.
Playing as a left wing back, he has become a dependable and confident member of the team. He stays composed under pressure, gives his best every time he steps onto the field, and continues to improve every single week.
His confidence on the pitch is matched by the smile he now wears so freely. He celebrates every win, encourages his teammates, and steps onto the field knowing he belongs.
Watching his confidence grow has been one of the greatest joys for our team.
This is why safe spaces matter.
Sometimes the greatest transformation is not measured by trophies or goals. It is the quiet confidence that grows when a child feels seen, valued, and loved.
But Dennis is just one story.
At Overflow Communities Kenya, we see stories like his unfold every week.

Through our weekend and holiday camps, children come together to play sports, discover music, improve their literacy, grow in their faith through discipleship, and participate in our girls’ and boys’ mentorship programs. Every activity is designed to help them build confidence, develop life skills, form meaningful friendships, and discover their potential.
Slowly, something beautiful begins to happen.
They start to dream.
Not just dream, but dream big.

They discover talents they never knew they had. They make friends, laugh freely, and experience the simple joy of being children. They encourage one another during games, celebrate each other’s victories, and begin to believe that they belong.
The children in our centre today are not the same children we first met.
Of course, some are simply taller now. A few have grown the teeth they were missing back then, which always makes us smile. But the biggest changes cannot be measured in height.
Today, children who once avoided attention volunteer to read in front of their friends. They confidently lead prayers. They take on leadership roles during activities. They cheer one another on, challenge one another, and have become a family that looks out for each other.
Many of these children had grown up believing they were already behind. They thought opportunities were for other children, not for them.
Camp changed that.

They tried sports they had never played before. They discovered new hobbies. Their curiosity grew. They began asking questions about school, careers, and what it takes to achieve their dreams. For the first time, many could picture a future they wanted to pursue.
When doubt creeps in, our programs remind them of something every child deserves to hear.
You are enough.
Your circumstances do not define your future.
Your dreams are worth pursuing.
You have something valuable to offer the world.
At Overflow Communities Kenya, every child is welcomed with open arms. It does not matter where they come from or what challenges they face. Here, they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Love is what started Overflow Communities Kenya.
Love is what continues to transform lives.
Someone, Somewhere, Believed in Him First
Here is the part people do not always see.

Dennis feels loved today because someone, somewhere, chose to give.
Imagine someone who does not know your name, your story, or where you come from, looking at you and saying,
“I believe in you.”
“Your future matters.”
“I will stand behind you, even from miles away.”
That is what a donor becomes to a child in Koisamo.
Not a stranger.
A believer.
Someone who sees potential where others see limitations. Someone who says, “You matter,” long before a child fully believes it themselves.
That belief changes everything.
It helped transform a quiet boy who avoided being seen into a confident football player, a teammate, and a young leader.
It inspires children to keep learning, keep trying, keep dreaming, and keep believing that their future can be different.
Dennis is not extraordinary because he was born different.
He is extraordinary because someone believed in him before he believed in himself.
Today, there are many more children in Koisamo waiting for someone to believe in them too.
You can be that someone.
Ksh 1939.50 ($15 USD) helps provide one child with a place at camp, nutritious meals, drinking water, mentorship, sports activities, learning opportunities, and a community that reminds them they are seen, loved, and capable.
Your gift will not just send a child to camp.
It will help a child discover confidence, purpose, and hope.
Just like Dennis did.
